Benibad

Benibad is a village located in the Muzaffarpur district of Bihar, India. It is the most populous village in the district and is situated 116 kilometers (72 miles) from Patna, the capital city of Bihar, and 36 kilometers east of Muzaffarpur, the district headquarters. Benibad falls under the Tirhut Division and is located 4 kilometers from Gaighat Block. The village lies on the banks of the Bagmati River, which originates from the Nepal Hills in the Himalayas.

National Highways that connect to Benibad include NH27, providing good roadway access to other regions.

Benibad is renowned for its rich history, cultural heritage, and agricultural significance. Historically, it has been a key route for trade and commerce, largely because of its strategic location. The village is primarily agrarian, with farming being the main source of livelihood for the local population. Benibad is particularly famous for producing Shahi Litchi, a type of litchi known for its unique and exquisite flavor.

According to the 2011 Census of India, Benibad had 944 households. The village's effective literacy rate, which excludes children under six years of age, stands at 66.57%. The community in Benibad is linguistically, ethnically, and religiously diverse, reflecting a rich multicultural fabric. Most of the residents belong to the middle class or lower-middle-class segments of society, fostering a strong sense of inclusivity and social harmony.

Benibad is well-connected to major cities in Bihar and neighboring states via road and rail. Although there is no railway station within a 10-kilometer radius, the nearest stations are Muzaffarpur Railway Station (36 km away) and Darbhanga Railway Station (25 km away). The nearest airport is Darbhanga Airport, located about 15 kilometers from the village.

        Education:

                      1. Primary School (Urdu Medium)
             2. Middle School (Urdu Medium)
             3. Madrasa Qasmia (for religious education)

The village of Benibad remains somewhat isolated from the outer parts of Muzaffarpur, which has contributed to challenges in accessing high-quality education. This is a common issue throughout the district. Although there have been various government initiatives to improve the educational infrastructure, the remote location and limited resources have hindered the establishment of a strong educational foundation.
Another challenge is the migration of many villagers to larger cities across India in search of better opportunities. As a result, the local community does not fully benefit from the knowledge and expertise of its educated members who relocate.
While the majority of the population is educated up to the SSC level (Matriculation), Benibad has also produced a diverse range of professionals, including cultivators, doctors, engineers, teachers, advocates, politicians, laborers, and chartered accountants. Despite the educational hurdles, many residents of Benibad prefer to work in government and semi-government institutions, seeking stable careers within the public sector.

    Health Care/ Hospital :प्राथमिक स्वास्थ्य सेवा प्रत्येक व्यक्ति के लिए बुनियादी आवश्यकता है।

The Benibad community has long struggled with limited access to quality healthcare services.     Despite having a population of over 20,000, the village lacks any form of primary healthcare centers or government hospitals. This absence of basic health infrastructure has been well-documented, as villagers frequently face difficulties accessing even the most essential medical services.

The "Healthy Village" initiative offers a holistic approach aimed at addressing critical environmental and health challenges in rural areas like Benibad. This approach seeks to improve healthcare access, sanitation, and overall community well-being by focusing on sustainable solutions and mobilizing resources for the betterment of rural populations.
